DONATION TO COLUMBIA COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION (CCCF) |
| | |
|
|
At year end 2005, Peoples Bank established the Peoples Bank Community Enrichment Fund (PBCEF) with a $25,000 donation to the CCCF. The gift was matched dollar-for-dollar by the Walton Family Foundation to fund operations and grants approved by the CCCF to deserving local charitable groups. In June 2007, Peoples Bank made another $25,000 donation which brings their total endowment in the PBCEF to $75,000. Peoples Bank is pledging to endow a full $100,000 by its 100th anniversary in June 2010.

Funding a permanent endowment through the CCCF establishes permanent and ongoing financial support for local charities for generations to come. To apply for a grant from the CCCF or receive a grant directly from the PBCEF the organization must be a registered 501(c)(3) corporation, please contact the CCCF by calling

Community is very important to us at Peoples Bank |
| | |
|
There are many ways that our banking family gets involved in our community. We have a deep sense of social responsibility, and seek to be proactive in fighting for causes worthy of universal support.
One of the most important social causes that we have been involved in is the fight against cancer. The main way that we have shown our support for this cause is in our yearly participation in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life which is an event that seeks to raise money for the prevention and cure of cancer. This year our own Jean Polk served as Co-chairman of the event. In the five years we have been involved with Relay, we have raised a total of almost $30,000 for the cause.
Another important event that we participate in is the Magnolia Blossom Festival and World Championship Steak Cook-off. We have been a competitive force in the parade and in the steak cook-off, winning several trophies over the years.
Education is an important issue that is supported by Peoples Bank. Current and former stockholders of the bank have established 20 Fully Endowed Scholarships at Southern Arkansas University, and made other significant contributions to other SAU projects.
Individual employees are involved in many various community activities, including United Way and the Chamber of Commerce. The Peoples Bank grill team has been active in supporting many community fundraisers and events. |
