PEOPLES BANK GIVES TO COMPASSION'S FOUNDATION

The Compassion's Foundation Inc. was presented with a $20,000 grant funded by Peoples Bank and FHLB Dallas. The grant will help give support to people seeking to escape domestic violence.

There are many ways that our banking family gets involved in our community. We have a deep sense of social responsibility, and seek to be proactive in fighting for causes worthy of universal support.

One of the most important social causes that we have been involved in is the fight against cancer. The main way that we have shown our support for this cause is in our yearly participation in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life which is an event that seeks to raise money for the prevention and cure of cancer.

This cause is especially meaningful to us in 2010 because we lost a valued employee, Rhonda Hughes, to cancer. Our participation in the 2010 Relay for Life was dedicated to Rhonda who will be an inspiration to us in years to come as we join together with our community to find a cure for this devastating disease. During 2010 our team raised $9,500.00 towards the fight against cancer. Peoples Bank held numerous fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. To date we have raised a total of $47,600.00 for the cause.

Another important event that we participate in is the Magnolia Blossom Festival and World Championship Steak Cook-off.  We have been a competitive force in the parade and in the steak cook-off, winning several trophies over the years.

Education is an important issue that is supported by Peoples Bank.  Current and former stockholders of the bank have established 20 Fully Endowed Scholarships at Southern Arkansas University, and made other significant contributions to other SAU projects.

Individual employees are involved in many various community activities, including United Way and the Chamber of Commerce. The Peoples Bank grill team has been active in supporting many community fundraisers and events.
